Assess your current skills
Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
If you have been out of school for while, start with the TABE practice exams. This is the same test that you would be given when entering a TASC class. The TABE exam linked below is specific to 9th grade-level skills. You won’t be given a grade-score, but you will see how many questions you got right and what topics require study.
After you complete the test, the Learning Express program will link you directly to online courses that address your learning needs at the right level. If you do really well on this test (80% or more answered correctly in reading and math), you may want to start the process for the NEDP testing or take a TASC exam to see if you can complete a subtest (if not the whole exam!).
TABE Practice Exams
NOTE: The goal is not to get 100 on these tests, but to use them to identify where you need to build your skills to work at grade level in this content.
If you want to see how you will do on the actual TASC exam with your current skills you can take a practice exam. These tests are more challenging than the TABE but give an accurate example of what to expect. Practice exams are linked below:
TASC Practice Exams
NOTE: When complete, you will see how many items you answered correctly and where you need to study. You will be able to look at detailed answer explanations for every question so you can understand your mistakes. The Learning Express program will link you directly to the online courses that address your learning needs at the right level.
